Doctors may be concerned about a child's speech and language development following a wellness visit or a visit for another reason. Speech Services Niagara supports the involvement of physicians in the Extended 18-Month Visit and encourages doctors to make referrals at any time if a speech-language screening is indicated. If you do not have referral forms in your office you can download them here. Once you have the forms printed, complete them and send them by fax to: Intake Co-ordinator, Speech Services Niagara (905) 688-4665 Or phone in a referal by contacting our Intake Co-ordinator at (905) 688-1890, ext 151 Supporting LiteratureSee the article Improving early childhood development - part II: Literacy, the primary care physician, and the enhanced 18-month well baby visit written by Williams, R.C., Watson, W., Van Lankveld, J., and Biscaro, A. published in the Ontario Medical Review in November, 2006Click here to leave our website and see part I and part II of the published article |
